Dr. Van der Merwe was born in South Africa and graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1989. She came to Australia with her husband and young son in June 1998, intending to stay for 6 months and ended up staying forever. Elmarie worked in Murgon, Queensland for two years, and then bought Dr. Derek Palmer’s practice moving to Grafton in May 2000.
She has been with South Grafton Medical Centre since May 2000 and practices family medicine as a specialist GP with Fellowship of the RACGP. Her Practice encompasses women’s health and ante-natal obstetric care; children’s health, chronic disease management, geriatric care and skin cancer management with skin checks and surgical procedures.
Elmarie loves her patients and has looked after many of them for the last 20 years, but she is also very involved with her family, loves gardening, cooking and baking, and adores travelling and hiking when she can get away for a while.

Dr Venneri graduated from Charles University, Prague in 2004 and completed his FRACGP in 2012 in Australia. Dr Venneri emigrated from Canada to Australia in 2006 working in hospitals in Tasmania before moving to NSW to begin general practice. He commenced at South Grafton Medical Centre in April 2015.
He has a particular interest in general medicine, sports injuries, mental health, chronic disease management, men’s health, paediatric/adolescent health, geriatric care, skin conditions treatment.
Dr Venneri enjoys being with his family and playing sports such as ice hockey and squash.

Dr van den Ende graduated in 1973 and completed her AMC QLD in 1986. Dr van den Ende in 1973 worked in London for 10 years before moving to Australia in 1985 working in Brisbane before becoming a locum in 2008 travelling Australia. Dr van den Ende joined our Practice in September 2010 working part time.
She has a particular interest in general medicine, women’s health, mental health and chronic disease management.
Dr van den Ende when at home enjoys horses riding and taking care of her animals.

Dr Terrey graduated in 1980 (Sydney). He began his medical career in Sydney hospitals before moving to Grafton in 1984.
Today Dr Terrey, works both on the Paediatric Ward at Grafton Base Hospital and with us at South Grafton Medical Centre as a Paediatric General Practitioner. He mainly practices paediatric medicine, however, also practices general medicine, ante-natal care, mental health and chronic disease management.
Dr Terrey also continues play Hockey and is a team member on the Australian Masters Hockey Team.
Dr Graham graduated in 1987 (Sydney). Dr Graham began her medical career in Sydney Hospitals and opened her own General Practice on the Central Coast of NSW. Dr Graham also travelled Australia as a locum before settling in Grafton in 2011. She joined our Practice in April 2017. Dr Graham has a particular interest in family medicine, women’s health, mental health, geriatric and chronic disease management.
Dr Graham has done extensive research on neurotransmitters as a causative factor in the development of Dementia. After a presentation at The International Society of Neuroscience she was invited to give a lecture tour around America. The result of her work has led to the development of drugs that are still in use today in the treatment of Dementia.

Dr Hart graduated in 1994 and began working in general practice in Sydney before moving to the mid north coast. Dr Hart joined South Grafton Medical Centre in October 2019.
He has a special interest in environmental and lifestyle medicine but also practices general medicine, skin care treatments, chronic disease management. He has written a book about Brain Function – discussing the science and evidence based treatment for improving brain function.
Dr Hart enjoys surfing, walking and reading when not seeing patients.
Registered Nurse
Richard completed his general nurse training in 1982. He has worked in both a hospital and aged care environments throughout his career. Richard joined South Grafton Medical Centre in November 2012. Richard assists our Doctors with minor procedures, wound management, immunisations and has a particular interest in aged care nursing. Richard is a successful grazier, enjoys being outdoors when away from the Surgery.
Registered Nurse (also has completed Midwifery and Psychiatric Nursing)
Tim completed his general nurse training in 1982. Tim has worked in hospitals, specialising in midwifery and psychiatric nursing before moving into aged care nursing. Tim joined our practice in April 2018. Tim assists our Doctors with minor procedures, wound management, immunisations and aged care nursing. Tim specialises in wound management and palliation. Tim is an avid sportsman enjoying golf, cycling, surfing and fishing. Tim is a successful grazier, taking over the family farm.
